Welcome to the official web site of the
Point Pleasant Beach Borough Historian and the Point Pleasant Historical
Society. Our combined goal is to collect, preserve and share the rich
and fascinating history of the two great Jersey Shore towns of Point
Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach. The Point Pleasant Historical
Society also serves the beautiful seashore town of Mantoloking, New
Jersey. Click the
Historical Society button for more information and don't forget to
check out the Society's latest issue of the
History Term Paper
newsletter.
I hope you enjoy these Web Pages
devoted to the history of two fantastic Jersey Shore
communities...... Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach. Please
E-mail any comments, suggestions or questions you may have about this
site or about local history in general.
....I
am seriously contemplating branching off the Point Pleasant Historical
Society Web Site as its own entity. This would give the Historical
Society more control over the content on the site and a better handle on
updating the newsletter. I am also considering giving the Point
Pleasant Historical Society its own WEB Address as well. I will keep
everyone updated on the progress of this proposal.
I
know, I know!
I've been promising the availability of historic photographs of the
Point Pleasant area for quite a while now. The latest word is... I'm
still ironing out the details, lead time, pricing, logistics, etc. It
has also been on the back-burner while I have been dealing with other
more pressing issues. I'm still optimistic of making this offer a
reality very soon and to be even better than originally planned! Stayed
tuned....
If you ever wanted to own an
historic photograph taken in Point Pleasant (Beach) and the surrounding
area, now is your opportunity! Hundreds of historic photographs will
very soon be available for purchase on this web site. These will be
top-quality black-and-white reproduction prints custom-printed from
original negatives in three sizes...5x7, 8x10 or 11x14. Convenient
on-line ordering and payment will be available, as well as special
requests. Part of the proceeds from these sales will be donated to the
Point Pleasant Historical Society. If you have a question, please
email me at ppbhist@worldnet.att.net.
NEW!!! A new page has
been added!
The
Historic
Postcard Page contains links to thumbnails of post cards from my
personal collection of Point Pleasant area cards. These images each
contain a brief caption describing the card and identifying the view.
As the post card images are added, the cards will be subdivided into
categories. The first category is titled "Greeting Cards/Aerial
Views." The scans will be of good quality and feel free to download the
cards for your use and pleasure. I will update the pages on a regular
basis as time allows. Just click on the
Images Link and then select Post Cards, or click
here to
go directly to the page.
